Recognition Basis

Recognition basis is the minimal architectural linkage without which recognition is indistinguishable from an arbitrary record.

What must be present at minimum

At the level of the architectural model, recognition basis must link together:

  • the object or object line to which the candidate relates;
  • the recognized causal basis;
  • the applicable structure version;
  • the candidate transition or candidate active configuration;
  • the contour within which this candidate is read;
  • the admissibility rules applicable to such a transition;
  • the required confirmations, if they are required by this class of structure or contour;
  • the absence of an unresolved incompatible candidate for the same canonical position.

What must not be substituted here

Recognition basis must not be replaced with:

  • a single signature;
  • the fact of message delivery;
  • the fact of storage in a system;
  • a later local heuristic of an application;
  • a reference to the fact that this is simply the last record.

All of these things may be part of the overall process, but by themselves they do not constitute a sufficient recognition basis.

At the current stage, one should not present as settled the final low-level evidentiary profile, the final format of cryptographic commitment, or the final verification protocol.
